Intuitive Surgical commercialized the world’s first laparoscopic robotic surgery system, the da Vinci Surgical System, in 2000. The system enables minimally invasive procedures and is used in a wide range of surgeries, including cervical cancer, prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, and heart valve surgery. As of now, 8,042 da Vinci systems have been installed worldwide, 62% of which are concentrated in the United States. Through the da Vinci platform, Intuitive Surgical maintains a dominant position in the laparoscopic surgical robot market.
